REDCap guide: Information

Information

REDCap is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. The tool is available to the staff and students of the University of Helsinki.

Information Security

University of Helsinki's REDCap is installed on the University's servers which means that also the data that is collected with REDCap is located on University's own servers.  The tool requires two-step login.  When you login for the first time to REDCap, the login is verified with an email. After the first login, you can activate Microsoft / Google Authenticator application. Tool saves logging information of all the events.

University of Helsinki REDCap admins can see and access all the projects in the UH REDCap and their data.  Admins don't access any projects without permission and request from the project owner. All the admin activity is saved in the logging information.

Principles of storing in REDCap

  • REDCap admins will delete all projects that have been inactive for two years or longer.
  • Activity is based on logging data.
  • Three months before deleting the project, we will send an email to users associated with the project informing them of the deletion. If necessary, you can request that your project be preserved by sending a message to redcap-support@helsinki.fi.

Usage Right of the Tool

REDCap can be found at: https://redcap.helsinki.fi/redcap/.  Everyone who has UH credentials can use the tool. When you log in for the time the format of the email address is: firstname.lastname@helsinki.fi

Also outsiders can apply for UH credentials - instructions on Helpdesk's pages.
